Hyperacidity, also referred to as acidity, is a digestive disorder. It is a condition of increased level of acid in the stomach. The stomach secretes hydrochloric acid, a digestive juice that breaks down food particles into their smallest form to aid the digestion. If there is an excess amount of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, such a condition is marked as acidity. It may be mild acidity, or hyperacidity i.e. excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid
Hyperacidity manifests through a variety of symptoms:
Severe burning sensation in the stomach
Associated pain in the stomach, chest and back
Vomiting
Loss of appetite and disturbed sleep
Heat burn
Chronic indigestion
Headache
Peptic ulcer
Sometimes the problem aggravates if not treated timely and may lead to other serious health complications.
Never stuff your stomach to the full, keep empty to allow the food to be churned thoroughly. If your stomach is full the churning process will be slower and will take a longer period and require more hydrochloric acid.
Avoid heavier food as it requires more hydrochloride acid for its churning process.
Do not drink water for at least one and half hours after your lunch and dinner.
Food should be chewed or masticated very finally by teeths before it reaches the stomach
Take 80% alkaline food from your daily diet. The more your food is alkaline, the less acidic it will be.
Do not eat food while standing.
